Abstract: This report is the first-ever economic impact study of New York City's music industry. The study found that the sector supports nearly 60,000 jobs, accounts for $5 billion in wages, and generates $21 billion in total economic output for the city. The report highlights that the success of the city's music ecosystem is because of four interrelated and mutually reinforcing pillars: local artist communities, mass music consumption, the global record business, and infrastructure and support services. Key words: economic impact, music industry.
