Abstract: Results of qualitative research on views regarding cultural diversity in Canadian media. Focus group participants were asked about their perceptions of the representation and portrayal of several segments of Canadian society (namely people with disabilities, indigenous peoples, members of the LGBTQ community, women, members of visible ethno-cultural minorities) in television shows (including dramas, comedies, sports, documentaries, news and current affairs shows) and news coverage. Both Canadian and international shows are discussed.
