Abstract: This 2004-05 annual report of the Book Publishing Policy and Programs Branch of the Department of Canadian Heritage includes: a summary of the mandate of the Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP), an overview of the book publishing industry in Canada, an overview of book publishing policy and programs in Canada, a summary of the activities of four industry initiatives, and data tables detailing funds distributed in 2004-05. The policy and programs overview includes a summary of the results of a summative evaluation of BPIDP, a review of expenditures in 2004-05 and summary of expenditures still forthcoming at the time, as well as an overview of communications and networking initiatives.
