Abstract: This paper highlights the Indigenous broadcasting sector in Canada and identifies the challenges created by the Native Broadcasting Policy. Includes the history of Indigenous radio in Canada, description of the CRTC’s policies and the Native Broadcasting policy. An analysis of 61 CRTC “Native Radio” licence decisions is also included in this study.
