Abstract: (Report updated November 2018). This study touches upon the importance and benefits of having a music officer or similar liaison that bridges the gap between a city's music scene and the public, by building a relationship with the city's municipal government. The study provides detailed analysis on the various types of liaison structures (this includes having a music office, arms-length organizations and Night Mayors) and highlights the conditions for success.
